A Christmas Lunch at Alta Nursing Home

Lions volunteers entertaining the elderly at Alta Nursing home

December 21, 2011
Garden Grove, Ca

There is no white snowflakes tickling the window panes, there is no fireplace to warm up the room with flames - but only the sound of Christmast carols, performed by the volunteers from OCVA Lions Club, celebrating and reminding our elderly the Spirit of Christmas. Gathering family and friends they love, together having a merry good time entertaing the elderly residents during lunch break at the Alta Gardens nursing home.

St. Nicholas had the true spirit of Christmas when he went about giving comfort to the people and making children happy - it is still a glorious thing to have old St. Nicholas in our hearts and in our homes. To bring happiness to others - the noble impulse and desire to give joy and blessing. There is a shared camaraderie, a connection to humanity, a joy in life when serving - a spirit that OCVA Lions Club hopes to foster in these events.

Background: Alta Gardens Care Center is a small and charming center, located directly across from the Garden Grove Medical Center, offerring 24 hour licensed professional nursing care to individuals recently disabled by illness or injury as well as those who are seeking long-term care. They have developed a Vietnamese Program with friendly and experienced Vietnamese speaking staff to assist the VN  population; it boasts a diversified activities programs, a Vietnamese menu, as well as Vietnamese newspapers delivered daily...

" .. When festivities have ended, And the memories fade away, Let peace remain within each heart As it did on Christmas Day. "
